 LYRICS

(Verse 1)

Gather ’round, the youth arise,

With passion burning in our eyes,

Through YCAP, we’ve found our way,

Together, we’ll seize the day.

(Chorus)

YCAP, our guiding light,

Empowering us to reach new heights,

With every step, we’ll make our mark,

In unity, we’ll light the spark.

(Verse 2)

From every corner, every land,

We join as one, hand in hand,

In service to our community,

We’ll shape a world where all are free.

(Chorus)

YCAP, our guiding light,

Empowering us to reach new heights,

With every step, we’ll make our mark,

In unity, we’ll light the spark.

(Verse 3)

Through YCAP, I’ve learned to grow,

With every challenge, I now know,

My voice can lead, my hands can build,

Together we can all fulfill.

(Chorus)

YCAP, we rise above,

With unity, with strength and love,

From dreams to deeds, we proudly stand,

YCAP, we change our land.

(Verse 4)

With every step, with every stride,

We break the limits, spread our pride,

Achieving goals, we never stop,

Through YCAP, we reach the top.

(Chorus)

YCAP, we rise above,

With unity, with strength and love,

From dreams to deeds, we proudly stand,

YCAP, we change our land.

(Outro)

So let’s raise our voices high,

In gratitude, we’ll reach the sky,

YCAP, forever in our hearts,

Together, we’ll never part.

Sisipho Mntungwa: A Journey of Talent and Passion for Music

I am Sisipho Mntungwa, from Mathubesizwe High in rural KZN.

I am also known by the stage name “Sparlètta.” At 16 years old, I come from Mandeni KaChappies, a township that has shaped much of who I am today. Music, particularly singing, has always been a deep passion of mine.

From as early as the age of 9, my family recognized my talent, and since then, I have been performing regularly, starting with my church.

Over the years, I have been invited to perform at various churches, and my love for singing has extended to my school, Mathubesizwe, where I lead songs during assemblies and school events. I’ve had the honor of performing alongside the poet Simchina at multiple events, further enriching my experience as a performer.

While singing is my primary passion, I also enjoy playing the guitar, though I still consider myself a beginner. I was once part of my church’s brass band, an experience that helped me grow musically, although I eventually stepped away from it.

One of the most defining moments of my musical journey was the opportunity to sing the YCAP (Youth Citizen Action Programme) song. This experience opened my eyes to the vast potential and opportunities that music holds for me.

Music is more than just a hobby; it is my solace and a source of peace. It’s a way for me to express myself and connect with others. I am committed to nurturing this gift and seeing where it takes me in the future.

A Journey of Faith and Music: The Story of Sandile Ntuli

Greetings,

My name is Sandile Ntuli, a learner at Mathubesizwe High.

I am a young and passionate musician dedicated to pursuing my dream of becoming a professional artist. I am a multi-talented instrumentalist, playing the drums, keyboard, guitar, and singing.

Recently, I had the opportunity to produce a song for the Youth Citizens Action Programme (YCAP), an experience that strengthened my love for music.

My journey began at the Haven of Rest orphanage, where I was placed as a two-month-old after the passing of my parents. Although I was not abandoned, my parents, before their passing, entrusted me to the care of the Haven of Rest. This orphanage, guided by Christian values, became my home and the place where I learned about God, love, and purpose. The people who took care of me, Pastors Ronnie and Shirley Naidoo, along with the church leaders in Tongaat nurtured me and provided the support I needed during challenging times. Through their care, I discovered my calling as a musician.

When I was feeling lonely or uncertain, the love and support I received at the Haven of Rest were unwavering. This care continued even after I reconnected with my maternal family, the Ntuli’s, in September 2017. They welcomed me with open arms and, despite not having great wealth, promised to take good care of me and help me pursue my dreams. I officially moved in with my family in 2023 and enrolled at Mathubesizwe Secondary School, a well-respected institution that has given me hope for a brighter future.

Being a part of YCAP and producing the song for the initiative was an incredible experience. It gave me the platform to express my musical talent, and I am confident that God will continue to open doors for me. I aspire to become a professional musician and gospel artist. I have already written and composed several gospel songs, but I face challenges in recording and sharing my music with the world.

I humbly seek assistance to help me grow in the music industry, both financially and in connecting with more people. With your support, I believe I can fulfil my dream of becoming a gospel singer and touch lives through my music.

Thank you for your time.
