Creative Cultures for Good 2026 (replaces Cultural Award)
As part of the Youth Citizens Action Programme (YCAP) National Rounds, participating teams are required to present two items: One cultural item and one social-ills item.
This item is designed to celebrate, educate, and honour South Africa’s rich cultural heritage, while reinforcing YCAP’s commitment to active citizenship, social cohesion, and mutual respect.
Purpose
This item provides learners with an opportunity to:
- Showcase South Africa’s diverse cultural identities, traditions, and national symbols
- Educate audiences on the meaning, history, or significance of a cultural element
- Promote inclusivity, understanding, and respect across communities
- Advocate, raise awareness and educate on pertinent social issues that are eroding our communities and filtering into schools
- Build confidence in public speaking, storytelling, and cultural expression
This component consists of an entertainment and education elements that strengthens cultural awareness, nation-building and awareness of pertinent social-ills.
