UNISA’s Communication Science Department has partnered with Empowervate to measure The Youth Citizens Action Programme’s M&E and Impact Analysis since 2013.
Usually pre- and post- Y-CAP surveys were the methodology of choice, but this year, focus groups were added to give depth to the data.
There were two days of focus groups with learners and teachers who were sampled from the 414 participating schools nationally.
The focus groups were a great experience for all participants as for many it was their first time in Johannesburg and as participants in a focus group. For all it was the first time in the Sandton CBD where the venue was located – the core partner, Deutsche Bank’s offices, which are opposite the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
The research results will be completed by March 2017 and will be made available on the Empowervate website.
